COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Though the first day of fall is almost upon us, summer isn’t going down quietly! Afternoon highs will keep running well above average even into the weekend with temperatures topping out in the mid to upper 90s during the heat of the day.
Apart from a few clouds bubbling up in the afternoons, abundant sunshine will continue with rain chances staying next to none thanks to a dominant ride of high pressure set-up over the Central and Southeast U.S. Later in the weekend, more moisture finds it way back into the Southeast and sets the stages for potentially better rain coverage next week (30-40%) each day. With increasing cloud cover on the horizon by next week, hopefully that will help knock our temperatures down to slightly more bearable levels. Unfortunately though, a significant cooldown doesn’t look overly promising in the immediate future, but we’ll keep you posted if we see any welcome doses of autumn air in sight!
