Summer Heat Hanging On

Derek’s Forecast

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Summer may be out of here soon, but the heat is still on across the Chattahoochee Valley with highs expected to top out in the mid to upper 90s on Thursday, with mid 90s expected through the weekend. Don’t look for much in the way of rain, as there will only be a slight chance of a shower or storm each afternoon and evening through Sunday (10% or less). If you have plans to attend high school football games, college football games, or any of the various activities going on through the weekend, make sure you are finding a way to beat the heat!

Going into next week, the weather pattern will change a bit - temperatures aloft will cool down a bit, allowing for a better overall chance of showers and storms with a 20% coverage on Monday, and a 30-40% coverage through the rest of the week. Wednesday and Thursday may end up featuring the best chances for rain. Highs will drop back a bit - upper 80s and lower 90s - with lows staying in the 70s. There is still the chance of a cold front that will cool us down and dry us out moving in late in the extended forecast in the day 10-12 time-frame. We will keep an eye on it for you!
