COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Well above average heat persists for Thursday and looks to stick around through the weekend, too! Once again, afternoon highs will manage to soar into the mid to upper 90s with the lingering summer humidity making it feel closer to the triple digits.
The drier air mass in place will keep rain chances low, and only a stray shower at best over the next several days. So, probably not a bad weekend to spend by the water so you can stay cool! Next week though the pattern becomes more unsettled again, bringing better rain chances back in the forecast (30-40% coverage each afternoon). A cold front potentially sliding its way toward the Southeast later next week will possibly bring us our first taste of fall air—though it’s a little late; Saturday marks the Autumnal Equinox! But before we can get our hopes up about a front a good 8-10 days out, we have to get through this pesky summer heat wave first!
