COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus police continue to investigate a horrifying stabbing that happened at a home on Victoria Drive.
The stabbing involved a naked man, Darius Travick, and now an elderly man is dead.
“They don’t bother nobody, they stay to themselves,” one neighbor said.
Neighbors described this attack as a tragedy.
As police wrapped up their investigation and the family returned home, there are still many more questions than answers.
Columbus police got a call right before 11 a.m. on Monday regarding a “naked man” roaming a neighborhood located off of Steam Mill Road and Victoria Drive.
According to investigators, parts of the altercation took place outside a carport and when a neighbor tried to help, he ended up as the third stabbing victim.
Since there’s no indication the suspect knew the victims, police are trying to figure out why they were singled out.
For neighbors, it’s a bizarre day they won’t forget.
“If you gonna walk up in my house naked with a knife, that’s automatic asking for trouble. Everybody around here mind their own business, it’s no trouble," said the neighbor.
While two of the stabbing victims remain in the hospital, a neighbor says the man who died in the attack was a veteran.
“He’s a U.S. vet and my heart goes out to them because I’m a Vietnam vet myself,”said another neighbor, Edward Walker.
“When I first heard about it, I said oh my gosh not him, not those people. My first impression was how did he get into the house," said Walker.
Police said the home has an alarm and they are working with a security company to determine how the naked man got into their home.
The neighbors are still trying to wrap their heads around this terrifying incident.
