OPELIKA, AL (WTVM) - A blood shortage is impacting many across the country, including those in east Alabama.
Lifesouth Community Blood Center in Opelika is one of the facilities affected by the shortage, so they are asking for your help.
They are calling on all donors to help keep hospitals stocked.
Officials from Lifesouth say they appreciate donations of all blood types, but they especially need O negative blood and platelet donors.
If you are interested in helping out, there is a blood drive scheduled to take place Friday, Sept. 28 in Phenix City.
The drive is happening at the Phenix City-Russell County Library from 11:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. EST.
