Firefighters across the Chattahoochee Valley raise money for injured LaGrange firefighters

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - Firefighters in LaGrange, West Point and Troup County are holding two fundraisers to raise money for the four LaGrange firefighters injured on Labor Day.

Three firefighters have since been released from the hospital. Williams remains in the Augusta Burn Center.

The first event is the Brotherhood Motorcycle and Jeep Ride on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Mike Daniel Recreation Center on Lafayette Pkwy. in LaGrange.

Registration for the event begins at 9:00 a.m. Bikes are $25 and $5 for each additional passenger. Jeeps are $30 per vehicle.

Barbecue plates will also be on sale for $10 and LaGrange Fire Department shirts will be available for $20.

The event will also feature a silent and a $1 raffle.

“The benefit motorcycle and Jeep ride tomorrow is hosted by Troup County, West Point, and LaGrange Fire Departments. We are doing this to support our brothers who were injured on Labor Day in a fire,” said Mike Webb, with the LaGrange Fire Department. “The fire service no matter what the patch on your sleeve reads is a family. The support of the other departments just confirms that we are family.”

There will also be a Brotherhood Benefit Golf Tournament on Monday, Oct. 8 at the Highland Country Club starting at Noon.

All proceeds will go to the four injured firefighters.
