COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Saturday, October 13, hundreds came out for the Junior Diabetes Walk that took place at Golden Park in Columbus, GA.
Family and friends affected by Type One diabetes walked for a cure and treatments for those with the disease.
The money raised today supports life changing breakthroughs giving hope to everyone impacted by diabetes.
Caroline Rowell’s son Swift has been diagnosed as a Type One diabetic. She tells the impact this has on her family’s life.
“Every time he eats we have to test his sugar and then administer the insulin because his pancreas is nonfunctioning,” says Rowell.
Rowell says she hopes people will become more educated on Type One diabetes.
500 children in Columbus were diagnosed with Type One diabetes this year.
