City of Columbus announces closures for Christmas, New Year’s

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - As the holidays approach, many people will be off of work to spend time with their families, and the Columbus Consolidated Government is no different.

Several governmental offices and services will be closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

  • 311 Citizen Service Center - closed Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1
  • Columbus Civic Center - closed Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1
  • Columbus Ice Rink - closed Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25, open Tuesday, Jan. 1 with scheduled programming
  • Parks and Recreation - closed Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25, open Tuesday, Jan. 1 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • Animal Control - closed Monday, Dec. 24, Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1
  • METRA Bus Service - Saturday bus schedule on Monday, Dec. 24, closed Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1
  • Recorder’s Court - 8:00 a.m. session on Monday, Dec. 24,  closed Tuesday, Dec. 25 and Tuesday, Jan. 1

Garbage will not be picked up on Monday, Dec. 24 or Tuesday, Dec. 26.

  • Monday, Dec. 24 route will be picked up on Wednesday, Dec. 26
  • Tuesday, Dec. 25 route will be picked up on Thursday, Dec. 27
  • Thursday, Dec. 27 route will be picked up on Friday, Dec. 28
  • Friday, Dec. 28 route will be picked up on Saturday, Dec. 29

Garbage collection for Tuesday, Jan. 1 will be picked up on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Emergency services, including police, fire and EMS will remain active.
