Auburn University warns students after female drugged at fraternity party

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Auburn University is reminding it’s students to be cautious after a female student was allegedly drugged at a party last week.

The woman reported that she believes she was involuntarily given a drug at a fraternity last Thursday night. She reported having no recollection of events after drinking a beer given to her at the party.

Following the incident, the university is reminding students that these are serious crimes that unfortunately do happen in the community. The school says students need to remain vigilant of their safety in certain situations.

The university also says that if you believe you have been drugged, to seek medical attention immediately then contact the proper authorities.

In a warning to students, Auburn wrote:

Giving someone a drug without their permission is considered aggravated assault and is a felony. This type of crime can occur anywhere. You should not leave drinks unattended, accept drinks from others, or drink from common, open containers. If you see suspicious activity or a person behaving suspiciously, notify police immediately.
