TROUP COUNTY, GA (WTVM) - The LaGrange Fire Department is launching a Quick Response Vehicle (QRV) program.
The program was initiated to improve response times and available medical resources as the call volume for medical responses in the county has increased. The QRV program is also an effort to decrease the volume of fire suppression resources responding to emergency medical calls and decrease overall costs.
The fire department purchases two QRV vehicles that re fully equipped with medical equipment. The vehicles are Ford F-150 pickup trucks and will allow increases maneuverability and faster response times. The trucks also offer overall reduced maintenance cost.
The program was funded through SPLOST and some equipment was donated by the Troup County American Medical Response.
“We’re excited about the launch of this program because it adds additional necessary emergency response methods that will largely benefit the community by providing a potentially quicker and more efficient response to medical emergencies,” said Troup County Fire Department Fire Chief Dennis Knight.
The vehicles will be stationed in areas with high call volumes once staffing is available.
