COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Zaneta Lowe is known as a friend, a wife, a mother and our 5:30 anchor, but how does she manage to juggle all those responsibilities? News Leader Nine's Taylor Barnhill has the answer in getting to know Zaneta Lowe.

She didn't know it at the time, but while in college, Tuscaloosa had big plans for Zaneta Lowe, "My parents met at the University of Alabama in the 1970's. My husband's parents met, and were there the same time my parents were, and thirty-some-odd years later, my husband and I met there, not knowing initially our parents met there as well. All three, in that case, met and got married after that so we found out and it was a fun story. We can thank the Capstone for our degrees and our spouses."

Shortly after starting her television career, the Lowe's started, what they call a typical, All-American family.

Zaneta said, "Both my husband and I work so our routine is sort of based on that. After school we have after school activities. Then after that its dinner, homework, bath, bedtime and you get up and do it all over again. You throw in laundry, grocery shopping, spending time with the family and the husband. In my case I feel I've been blessed with a husband and two children. I think you do what it takes to manage all of it and we have help. My husband's family is nearby and that's the fortunate thing of having relatives, some of who are retired, that can help out a little it. But my husband's grandfather is even here and my kids can hang out with him. How cool is that they can hang out with their 85 year old grandfather."

Zaneta says having a job in the news business doesn't always fit the mold of your typical working mother, "Just recently we had bad weather and they asked everyone to come in. At that point I wasn't the Consumer Watch reporter or the 5:30 anchor, I was just like everyone else. And I saw the call come in about 12 or 12:30 in the morning. I threw on my jeans and WTVM shirt and told my husband -- they need help so I have to go."

But Zaneta says she's always found a way to make it all work, "You just roll up your sleeves and do it. There's no mold or necessary pattern -- some people have that -- but that's your life and you just do it and love it, because like I said, it's a blessing."

Believe it or not, Zaneta Lowe actually practices what she preaches. When's she's telling you about leading a simpler life, money saving tips or clipping coupons, you better believe she's doing it right there with you.
