    As millions of Americans focus their attention on the devastation in Oklahoma, many will feel compelled to reach out and help.

    But sometimes, in massive recovery efforts, people's good intentions can turn into a burden for workers in the trenches.

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Officials are on the scene of a single-engine airplane crash at Columbus Metropolitan Airport.

A call for "all units to respond" came across the Columbus Police scanner around 6:20 p.m. ET Sunday night.

Along with police, fire and EMS units, Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower arrived on the scene just after 7:00 p.m. ET.

Columbus Police confirm to WTVM that one person has died in the crash and have not confirmed any other injuries.

Debris from the airplane is scattered near the hangar area on Earnie Shelton Drive, where freight airplanes are typically housed.

Columbus Airport police are handling the investigation.
