BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Federal prosecutors are seeking to seize the home and two vehicles of former state Sen. E.B. McClain of Midfield to satisfy a forfeiture judgment.
McClain was convicted in January of bribery, mail fraud and money laundering. Prosecutors filed paperwork in federal court Monday saying McClain netted more than $306,000 in kickbacks and he should repay the money by forfeiting his house and vehicles. Jefferson County tax records put the value of McClain's house at $345,000.
McClain is free on bond while appealing his conviction and prison sentence of 5 years and 10 months.
His conviction ended his 14-year career in the state Senate.
