COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus Police tell News Leader 9 a second man, wanted for a recent armed robbery and murder, has been captured.

Authorities arrested 35-year-old Tavares Lowe Friday afternoon -- just hours after it was revealed that he was a fourth suspect.

He and three others were wanted for the recent shooting death of a Columbus man. So far, two suspects have been captured.

One of the suspects was in Recorder's Court Friday morning.  Twenty-year-old Ronnie Blue pled not guilty to charges of armed robbery and murder in connection with the shooting death of 30-year-old Wayman James, Jr.

The former soldier and father of two was shot in the parking lot of the Decatur Court apartment complex in the Carver Heights early Tuesday morning.

Police are still on the lookout for 17-year-old Shannon Fields and 24-year-old Willie Jones.

In court Friday, detectives alleged Blue knew James had a large sum of cash -- around $3000. Police say the victim was flashing his money and gun at the Decatur Court apartments, while he was drinking and playing cards.

Investigators say Blue lived at the apartments and set up a plan with Lowe, Fields and Jones to rob James.

Witnesses revealed Blue flashed a light to signal to other three suspects that their target was leaving the complex. Moments later, James was shot in the head in the parking lot. The murder weapon – a shotgun.

Witnesses near the scene of the crime identified Blue as a suspect.

However, Blue denies sending a signal to the other suspects and would not tell police that he played a part in the deadly incident.

"He's a very scared, very frightened young man. He just turned twenty years old. He's never experienced anything such as this and he is very concerned and very frightened," said Blue's defense attorney, Bill Kirby, after Friday's hearing.

As for the victim's family members, they were too upset to speak on camera after court Friday but tell News Leader 9 James was never one to flash money. They feel he was with someone who he thought he could trust but who ultimately betrayed that trust.

Tavares Lowe is expected to appear in Recorder's Court Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

Ronnie Blue's case has been bound over to Muscogee County Superior Court.

He is being held without bond in the Muscogee County Jail.

Investigators believe Fields and Jones are still in the Columbus, GA/Lee County, AL area avoiding capture. We are told that Fields has some connections in Lee County, AL.

If you know of the men's whereabouts, please call 911.

News Leader 9 is following this developing story. We'll bring you the latest information as soon as it becomes available.
