COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Investigators say 49-year-old Diane Norman died over the weekend from a gunshot wound that entered her back and traveled to her chest.

Ethel Valentine is the manager of Vista Estates Apartments on Buena Vista Road. She told News Leader 9, she rented apartment 8-F to Norman, just three months ago.

"I was shocked. I couldn't believe it; not Mrs. Diane.  I couldn't understand why someone would want to hurt her," added Valentine.

Who did it and why they did it are also questions police want answered.  The unanswered questions are still lingering 2 days after Norman was found dead at the corner of 25th Avenue and Garden Drive with a single gunshot wound to the upper shoulder.

"She would come into the office sit down and talk with me until her ride came or she would take the bus."  Valentine describes Norman as a quiet person.

Police say the neighbors around the crime scene are also being quiet.  So far, only two people who say they heard gunshots have come forward and the driver of a car who stopped and called 9-1-1.

Police tell News Leader 9, no eyewitnesses to the crime have surfaced at this point.

Columbus police say they're hoping someone will come forward with information.

Anyone with information that leads to an arrest and an indictment will receive a $1000 dollar reward, according to Capt. Gordon Griswould.
