COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Columbus police are investigating what they're calling a random drive-by shooting in East Highland.

Police were called to the scene at 16th Avenue and 25th Street shortly after midnight.

When investigators arrived, they found two females and one male with gunshot wounds.

According to police, the victims were in a yard when the shots were fired.  Police are still searching for leads. No description of the vehicle was given and no one has been arrested.

Even though one of the females was reportedly shot in the head, police say their injuries are not life threatening.

One of the victims talked to News Leader 9 about her ordeal.

She tells us the bullet is still in her head. Doctors told her the bullet entered the front left side of her head but did not enter the skull. They will attempt to remove it in 6 months to a year after the swelling has subsided. She added she was holding her 2-year-old daughter in her arms when she was shot.

The victim told us her brother is still in the hospital.
