COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Twenty-five-year-old David Heath Jackson was known to many in Columbus as simply, Heath, the morning radio personality and program director at WBOJ 88.5 The Truth.

"He was kind, compassionate, he was funny, he was charming, he was a cut-up but I think the most important think for people to know first and foremost was that he loved Jesus with all of his heart," said friend Theresa Garcia.

Garcia says that Heath was known for his beautiful voice and musical abilities that he got from his mother.

Jackson has played at a number events over the years throughout the Chattahoochee Valley. He made a guest appearance on our morning show just a few years ago.

In a statement on the 88.5 fan page of Facebook, the station's afternoon DJ released this statement, "It's with a heavy heart that I acknowledge that my great friend and program director, Heath Jackson, died today (Tuesday) after being shot in his home by an intruder. Heath bravely chased the man from the home, but the gun shot proved to be fatal. Please join me in prayers for his family. God bless you, and rest assured that Heath confessed his faith in Jesus Christ boldly."

"Heath was supposed to play Tuesday night at a Christ Community Church worship service that they are having, and he wasn't there playing on the stage but we all know that he's getting a chance to worship in person," Garcia said.
