ATLANTA (AP) - Gov. Nathan Deal has sent President Barack Obama a letter complaining that the federal government failed to communicate with his office before sending more than 1,000 unaccompanied young migrants to the state in the first half of 2014. The governor expressed concern that Georgia communities would have to provide medical and educational services to the young people awaiting processing.

ATLANTA (AP) - A Georgia teen has filed a civil rights complaint stating she should have been allowed to complete her schoolwork from home while pregnant and on doctor-ordered bed rest. The document says 18-year-old Mikelia Seals of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School was told Seals the school did not have a program letting her take classes from home.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - A cruise lines company has apologized to its customers after a casino boat got stuck for 16 hours off the Georgia seacoast near Tybee Island. Tradewinds Casino Cruise Lines Vice President Roger Humphreys issued the statement Wednesday saying he was sorry for the inconvenience to passengers after the July 16 grounding.

REYNOLDS, Ga. (AP) - Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall has paid his fines in Georgia for possession of a small amount of marijuana and a window tint violation. Authorities say they found less than an ounce of marijuana in Marshall's car during a July 11 traffic stop for the window tinting near Reynolds, Georgia.
