The best friend of Kenneth Walker speaks out about his fallen fraternity brother and describes the man shot by a sheriff deputy as a loving father and devoted husband.
In a tearful interview, long-time best friend of Kenneth Walker says the thirty-nine year old was a role model to the community.
"He was a family man. He was man of morals and principles. He lived for his daughter," says Tim Crumbley.
Crumbley says he has many questions about why Walker was shot on Wednesday night by a Sheriff Deputy. At time the Muscogee County Sheriff office is not releasing the name of the drug-enforcement officer who shot Walker.
"The longer they wait to answers key questions, the more upset the community grows," say Crumbley.
Muscogee County Sheriff has turned the investigation over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigations.
The family lawyer Gary Parker wants the F-B-I and the U.S. Attorney General’s office to get involved. Parker says he does not trust the G-B-I to oversee the investigation.
Parker says many of the G-B-I agents are former local law enforcement officers and police offices. He eludes that some of those agents might have worked in Columbus or the surrounding area.
"My question is how many of the agents are hunting and fishing buddies with the Muscogee county sheriff deputies?" Both Parker and Crumbley say Walker had no history of breaking the law. "He never even had a speeding ticket," claims Parker.
Friends say Walker’s love was his three-year old daughter Kayla.
"He always put her first," says Crumbley. "He was a loving father."
Walker was working at Blue Cross-Blue Shield at the time of his death. Both he and his wife were active in the St. Mary’s Road United Methodist Church.
The funeral for Walker is set for Tuesday, December 16 at St. Mary’s church. His wife Cheryl is requesting only family and friends attend the service.
