COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

Hang on to your shopping carts, more stores are set to open up just off Macon Road in Columbus.

At Star Nails in Columbus, it is beauty treatments as usual, but Manager Latanya Pham says there is excitement in the shop as they wait to see T.J. Maxx move in right next door.

"It's going to be exciting.  It will be a challenge.  We might be really, really busy with a lot of customers and different people," said Pham.

Officials say T.J. Maxx will take the place of the old Publix store in Cross Country Plaza off Macon Road.  That is not the only new thing that will hit the area.  Officials say Baskin-Robins, Dunkin' Donuts, Hibachi Grill, and Epperly Tire will all have a new home here soon.

"This is great affirmation of building momentum, and that is what we are seeing. This is positive, forward momentum that just keeps on rolling," said Anne King, Executive Director with Midtown Inc.

King says the new developments are exciting especially with the on-going construction of the natatorium and the city services building as well as the renovations of the Midtown Shopping Center. But, she says, work is still to be done.

"We want to see more business, retail revitalization along the Wynnton corridor, along the 13th Street, 13th Avenue corridors," said King.

At Star Nails, they cannot wait to see the changes and are looking to the possibility of even more in the future.

"It would be more exciting if we do get other things, maybe more restaurants.  Mostly, mainly we need restaurants," said Pham.
