Elizabeth White

Elizabeth White has been with WTVM for seven years. She joined the news team back in 2000, after she graduated with a communications degree at Auburn University. Elizabeth is our East Alabama bureau chief for WTVM.

She's won a Georgia Association of Broadcasting Award for "Best Sports Special" for covering Auburn Universities appearance in the Sugar Bowl. 

Elizabeth also recently won a Radio & Television News Director's Association (RTNDA) Edward R. Murrow Award for "Best Spot News in March of 2007. That honor was awarded for her live coverage of Kia coming to West Point, Georgia.

She is married and lives in Auburn with her husband and their five beloved dogs, a golden retriever named Lexi, three labs named Hunter, Suzie and Hannah and their terrier/something else, named Pebbles.

When she finds any spare time Elizabeth enjoys curling up with her animals and a good book, working in her garden, and slipping off to Lake Martin or Atlanta to visit friends and family.

Q&A

Tell us about your family.

 My husband and I have been together for 7 years.  We married in October of 2005.  We are expecting our first child, a boy, in December. It is the most exciting time of our lives.  We both have wonderful, close relationships with our parents. My mom and dad live in Atlanta, but are planning on retiring soon to Auburn to spend more time with us.  

Tell us about your first pet ever.

My first pet was a golden retriever named Pumpkin.  She was a best friend and a member of the family. She loved to cuddle and take suckers from us when we were little kids. Pumpkin was our first golden retriever, followed by Peaches, Molly and now my Lexi who lives with us in Auburn....actually we live with her. She is the queen of the house. We can't wait to see her with our son when he is born. Golden's are  wonderful with children. 

What was your best vacation ever?

When the terrorist attacks happened on September 11th, I was with my family vacationing in Seaside, Florida.  I know it sounds odd to say it was the best vacation ever, but it was the most special.  I remember being so thankful to God that we were all safe and together,  normally we are spread out over three states.  I remember watching with such sadness as people posted flyers looking for their loved ones in New York.  It was a comfort and a blessing to be able to see my mom, dad and brother and hug them and be close to them during this tragedy. 

What was the most difficult decision you ever made?

I've made so many. Everyone has, I think that's what being an adult is all about.  So far for me, they've all turned out to be good ones.
