Public Hearing for Library Statue

This all came about when city council members voiced concerns over this statue that would stand at the entrance-way of the Columbus Public Library. The proposed sculpture would stand 35-feet tall and be an assortment of bright colors. Two concerns are brewing about the statue...one, that a local artist isn't constructing it and two that it has no local theme... Many people said there should be a military theme, others said the statue didn't look like art at all..... City councilors were concerned they were spending tax money on the sculpture without getting public input... So, Monday night, the Library Board held a public hearing.
News Leader 9 will have complete coverage Monday night at 11.
