A cat stuck in a tree in Columbus for two weeks is now in need of some costly surgery. Molly was rescued Friday after falling 60 feet to the ground.
For the past few days Molly has been resting since the 60-foot fall caused her to break a leg. The break happened near her hip and was so bad that she will need to have a plate and a pin placed in the leg - an expensive procedure. "I am so concerned about the surgery because we don't have the money lying around for that kind of cost," said Mary Falls, Molly's owner.
The surgery for Molly plus after-care and medications will cost about $4,000. Family members say they are struggling with that cost. "When she is able to have this surgery, she will be able to get out there and play with the flowers and mice," said family member Kimberly Falls.
Mary Falls said some people have told her to put Molly to sleep or even have her leg amputated. "Since she is part of our family, I just couldn't imagine doing anything like that to her," said Falls.
But family members say they are hopeful the surgery will happen soon. "Molly needs the surgery and if she doesn't have the surgery, she could lose that leg," said Ralph Falls.
Those who would like to help Molly have the surgery she needs can make a donation at any SunTrust Bank. Notify a teller about making a donation to "The Molly Fund."
