A former Columbus High School teacher charged with three counts of sexual assault will stay on the district's payroll for now.
37-year-old Jim Cypert was arrested and charged in May. He was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday afternoon.
Cypert was transferred to an area where he has no contact with students. "He is working within the transportation department in an adminstrative capacity, at this time we know this is a legal matter and requires due process and it has to go through the court system,"says Director of Communications, Valerie Fuller.
Cypert is accused of having sex with a female student who was eighteen at the time.
According to Fuller, the school district conducts its own investigation in similiar situations.
