TROUP COUNTY, Ga. (AP) - Authorities say an 11-year-old North Carolina girl found dead in her mother's car in west Georgia on Sunday might may have been dead before her mother left home.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab ruled that Nicole Aduma Kasera was a victim of homicide based on an autopsy. Troup County Sheriff Donny Turner says the autopsy showed the girl had been dead from 12 to 24 hours. He says it is likely the girl died in North Carolina.
The mother -- 38-year-old Nancy Akinyi Kasera of Thomasville, North Carolina -- is originally from Kenya. She called Troup County 911 at 9:13 p.m. Sunday and told authorities her child was not breathing.
Turner says officials found the girl dead in the car.
The sheriff says Kasera signed a waiver yesterday to be extradited to Davidson County, North Carolina, where she is expected to be charged with murder.
Turner says the autopsy revealed wounds all over the girl's body.
An 8-year-old daughter traveling with her mother has been placed in a foster home but may be returned to North Carolina.
