AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) -- Talk about must see T.V.! Turn on the television Sunday afternoon and you might see a few familiar faces from Auburn. The T.V. Show "On the Job" is featuring Auburn University's Veterinary School.
Alabama Public Television chose Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine for it's show, "On the Job".
Extension Veterinarian for Auburn University, Soren Rodning said, "They just offered us the opportunity saying, 'Hey let's do something to highlight veterinary medicine, tell people what veterinarians do, tell people how to go about applying to veterinary medicine, what's involved in becoming a veterinarian, so on and so forth.' So we just jumped at the opportunity."
With other vet programs throughout the state, why did the show pick Auburn?
"I don't know why they chose Auburn, but we're certainly glad they did," said Rodning.
A professor involved in the Animal Science program, Dr. Dwight Wolfe, told News Leader Nine, "Our college has a quite well recognized reputation for the quality of the Food and Animal program."
Chance Armstrong is a Junior at Auburn. He thinks its easy to see why "On the Job" chose Auburn's programs, "The state of the art facilities we have here and the fine faculty that we have here and the reputation that Auburn has across the nation and the world for their Large Animal program."
So what was it like having a film crew follow these vets around?
"It was a different experience for a lot of us, but we had a lot of fun," said Rodning.
"Its not every day you get to be on T.V. Fifteen minutes in the sun I guess..." laughed Armstrong.
With their fifteen minutes of fame coming up this weekend, everyone involved in the show is eager to see the results.
Dr. Wolfe is excited for the premier, "I will be there. I will watch, yes!"
"I'm really looking forward to it. I'm going to get together with some friends and watch the program," said Rodning.
But unfortunately Chance Armstrong will be traveling when the show is on, "I won't be able to see it. I'll have to watch a taped version of it."
The T.V. show airs at 2:30 Central Time on June 22nd on Alabama Public Television.
