Macon, GA (WTVM) - This is the fourth and final report from the Peachstate Pigskin Preview, an event hosted by the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon. Friday's focus is on the Georgia Bulldogs.
This could be a big year, a very big year for the Georgia Bulldogs.
And with that in mind, Head Coach Mark Richt has introduced a new motto for the team. In the past it was "Finish the Drill." Doing that has earned them the status of early favorite for the national championship. This year the catch phrase is "Focus on the Moment."
Dealing what's on your plate right now, and not worrying about other things is a pretty good idea.
Senior linebacker Dannell Ellerbe said that focus on the moment "means we have to keep a level head and stay focused. We're focused on one day at a time, one week at a time. I mean, ain't no tellin'. The outcome should be in our favor every game."
Fellow senior Tripp Chandler agrees, saying that "the sky's the limit for this team. I think we have a lot of really good football players. Our coaching staff is top in the nation, I believe. And I think with our work ethic, I don't think there's anything that could stop us, besides ourselves."
The Bulldogs kick off the 2008 season in just 64 days. They face Georgia Southern on August 30th, between the hedges at Sanford Stadium.
