Mayor's Forum: Poverty Next Door - A Town Hall Meeting

Thursday night, WTVM and The Mayor's Commission on Diversity, Unity and Prosperity presented the 7th Annual Diversity Forum, live from the RiverCenter in Uptown Columbus.

This year's discussion focused on sub-standard housing, slum lords and extreme living conditions in Columbus.  We took an up-close look at how some of our neighbors are forced to live and what we can do to help alleviate these inhuman conditions.

A group of panelists were on hand to talk about your questions and various other topics.

  • Mayor Teresa Tomlinson
  • Tom Calhoun - Residential Property Manager, Flournoy and Calhoun Realtors
  • Richard Washington - Senior Pastor of St. James A.M.E Church
  • Christie Bevis - Executive Director of Home for Good Alliance to End Homelessness
  • Len Williams - Director of Housing Authority

Video of the full discussion will be available on after the broadcast.
