AMERICUS, GA (WTVM) - A man with Sumter County roots will receive a homecoming tribute Thursday, less than two weeks after playing in football's biggest game.

Leonard Pope played high school football in south Georgia, then went on to the University of Georgia.  He started at tight end for Arizona in this month's Super Bowl.  But he hasn't neglected his home, holding fundraising events there and supporting the rebuilding project at Sumter Regional Hospital.

Pope will sign autographs from 4:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m. at Finklea-Robinson Stadium in Americus. Then a welcome home ceremony featuring the mayor will begin at 5:00.
