A big campaign is is underway in Columbus. The United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley has kicked off it's 2006 fundraising campaign at the Trade Center.
This year's fundraising goal is 4.6 million dollars. Last year, the United Way exceeded its goal of 4 million dollars. Representatives say while it's an aggressive goal, the money will go to many areas of the community.
"United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley is in its 56th year. We fund 22 agencies and 50 programs and we have many partnerships and community initiatives. We help babies all the way up to the elderly," said Lisa Deason, who handles public relations for the United Way.
More than 1,100 volunteers and community leaders attended the luncheon at the Trade Center.
