April Fool's prank lands Albany teen in trouble

ALBANY, GA - April Fool's pranks are sometimes innocent - even funny, but Albany firefighters weren't laughing when a teenager reported a car had crashed into the Flint River.

Authorities received the 911 call at about 2 a.m. Wednesday. After searching the waterway, firefighters determined it was an elaborate joke.

Albany Fire Chief James Carswell said an Albany teen who initiated the prank could face criminal charges or be forced to reimburse the county.

Carswell said the department spent more than $1,000. The incident is under investigation.
