Georgia gets rid of teacher bonus program

ATLANTA (WTVM) -  In Georgia, a bill that cuts bonuses to public school teachers passes the state senate.

The house bill eliminates a ten percent salary increase for teachers who become certified by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

Last month, governor Sonny Perdue proposed a plan that would offer a similar pay bump to teachers who complete a state "Master Teacher" program.
