AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Family and friends are remembering the life of an Auburn teen who was killed in a car accident late Thursday evening. Wire Road is the scene of a deadly car accident where some say a life was claimed much too soon.

Police say a Jeep Wrangler and a Ford Explorer crashed on Wire Road around 7:30 Thursday night. The drivers of the two cars survived, but the passenger in the Jeep, Brandon Maluff, age 19, was killed.

"It was a sad day for a lot of people who knew him. That goes to show how well-liked he was and loved. He was a good person," Anthony Jeter, an Auburn High School Coach said. Brandon was a student at Auburn University, majoring in Biomedical Sciences.

He graduated from Auburn High School last year where he played football under coaches Anthony Jeter and Gary Pegues. "The biggest thing we look at is seeing a kid grow from a young man to a man when he graduates to become a productive person and be productive," said Gary Pegues, an Auburn High Football Coach.

"Whatever he was doing, he was going to be his all, and committed, and you recognize that early I think in a kid through his high school career," Pegues said. Maluff gave it his all as a defensive-back for four years on the Tiger football team. His former coaches say they'll miss the enthusiastic teen who had a great attitude on and off the field.

"I don't know a kid who didn't like Brandon, I just don't. I don't know an adult. I don't know an adult that met him for the first time and didn't think what a great kid" Pegus added. Visitation for Brandon Maluff will be held on Saturday at Jeffcoat-Trent Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest on Sunday.
