Suspect connected to murder outside local barbershop

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Police are still investigating a murder near Gunboat Drive and Milgen Road in Columbus.

Around seven o'clock Saturday night, Columbus Police found a young man, sitting in his car, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police tell News Leader Nine 21 year old William Cobbs was getting his hair cut at a barber shop at the Gunboat Plaza and when he got into his car, he was shot in the back. He was rushed to the Medical Center, but was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

Police are now looking for the person they believe to be responsible, 23 year old Brandon James Floyd. He is 6'1'', 160 pounds. He has a light complexion and a mustache.

We're told Cobbs and Floyd did know each other. Police interviewed several witnesses, one of which was in the car with Cobbs when he was shot, but at this time police do not consider him a suspect.

Muscogee County Coroner Bill Thrower says William Cobbs' body is being sent to Atlanta for an autopsy.
