COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - "I want him to go to jail." Words were few and far between for Geraldine Johnson, after she went through a terrible experience Saturday night. Her ex-boyfriend, Tommy Hinton entered her apartment at the E.E. Farley apartment complex and asked to speak with her. Johnson refused and that's when the threat of violence began.

Johnson's neighbor, Veronica Daniels recalled the experience to News Leader Nine, "He said, I'm going to ask you one more time, could I speak with you and she said, no, I'm feeding the baby."

That's when Johnson and Daniels allege Hinton pulled out a gun, "And I jumped up, started grabbing kids, trying to get them all together to push them out the back door.  And that's when he walked up to her and put the gun up to her forehead and said, I'm fixing to kill you," said Daniels.

They left the apartment, headed for a neighboring building. Hinton followed them, allegedly firing shots at Johnson, Daniels and the five children with them.

After they reached safety at another apartment and called police, Daniels said Hinton offered a strange plea, "That's when he said, what are y'all running for, and he just stood there, like he didn't do anything." Luckily, no one was injured in the shooting.

40 year old Tommy Hinton is 6'1'' and 175 pounds. He is facing seven charges of aggravated assault and police are still looking for him. If you have any information, you can contact Columbus Police at (706)653-3400.
