Opelika police continue to investigate the city's second murder of the year. They say they have a suspect.

A neighbor, who asked us not to use his name, points out blood that lingers behind in a mud puddle. It's a graphic reminder of Tuesday's double shooting, in front of this mobile home on Monroe Avenue.

"I heard some gunshots, came outside, dude was laying on the ground. We called 911 and my sister tried to help out," said the neighbor.

Investigators say 53 year old, Levi Beard died of a gunshot wound to the head. Detectives say the shooting happened around 8 Tuesday night. Two hours later a second gunshot victim, a 41-year old man arrived at the hospital, shot in the knee. You can still see the grill in front of the mobile home where the shooting happened. A family member of the man shot in the leg tells me it was his birthday and they were celebrating by grilling out.

"They were having a bar-be-que and started drinking and I guess it led to something else," explained Alonzo Dowdell.

While he's glad police have a suspect. He's upset a gruesome reminder of his friend's death was left on the street.

"It's still there for the family to see when they get over here and that wouldn't be nice for a family to see the blood from a loved one on the ground still," said Dowdell.

Police will not say if the two victims shot at each other. They will only say they have a suspect and will let us know if they make an arrest. if you do have any information in the case, call Opelika police.
