Two Escapees Caught in Columbus

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Two inmates who escaped from their work detail Friday are back behind bars.

Columbus Police confirm that Michael Patterson and Jason Miller were captured Saturday morning in a wooded area off of Williams Road in Columbus without incident or injuries. The two were reported walking along I-185 near Williams Road still in their Muscogee County Prison uniforms.

Patterson and Miller escaped from a work detail at Double Churches Park near the Peppertree Community Friday afternoon. They were cutting grass in the park and took off running into the neighboring subdivision.

Members of the Columbus Police and Muscogee County Sheriffs Department and officials with the Muscogee County Prison along with a K-9 unit and the Metro Narcotics helicopter had been tracking the two men.
