COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Due to a lack for revenue from a local sales tax, the city of Columbus is under a hiring freeze.
City manager, Isaiah Hughley says revenue is down 29% from February 2008 to February 2009, but that does not mean a freeze in hiring more police officers. Hughley assures News Leader 9 that new police officers will be hired despite the city worker hiring freeze.
The freeze will be in effect until July 1st.
