Columbus Hiring Freeze

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - Due to a lack for revenue from a local sales tax, the city of Columbus is under a hiring freeze.

City manager, Isaiah Hughley says revenue is down 29% from February 2008 to February 2009, but that does not mean a freeze in hiring more police officers. Hughley assures Fox 54 that new police officers will be hired despite the city worker hiring freeze.

The freeze will be in effect until July 1st.
