COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Prosperity America, a new startup company in Columbus, is the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal day of economic news.

300 jobs will be coming to Columbus over the next three years, offsetting losses at Cessna and ClearChannel Radio.

The company's CEO, Fred Landrum, wanted to bring the jobs to the military community around Fort Benning.

"Quite frankly, as a veteran, I have a deep commitment to those who have sacrificed their lives, limbs, and money to serve and protect my freedom. I owe a debt of gratitude to those people," said Landrum.

The mission of the new tele-services company: to bring jobs back to America that are normally outsourced to countries like India and Pakistan.

The CEO also wants to target disabled vets, retired soldiers, and families of active duty military that share his patriotic values.

"Ours isn't a business, it's a mission. We need to be able to provide quality service our company needs to offer, and we need people who are mission oriented, disciplined, and understand what it takes to achieve a goal. That exists here in Columbus community," said Landrum.

With Columbus' unemployment rate hitting record levels, and more local layoffs being announced, Prosperity America wants to give a little bit of hope through their hiring to those still looking for work.

"While we won't fix all economic ills, maybe we will start a trend and others will follow suit," said Landrum.

If you are interested in these jobs, the Department of Labor will be holding a job fair this Saturday, May 2nd, between 9AM and 2PM, at their location on Veteran's Parkway.

The company encourages anybody to apply, not just people associated with the military.
