COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A police chase and attack on an officer has ended with one Columbus man behind bars.

Police were looking for fifty-three-year-old James Walker Friday night in connection with a reported hostage situation on Forest Road.

When officers found Walker, he took off running.

Several Columbus cops chased Walker on foot in the East Columbus neighborhood and one tackled him to the ground on Gleason Avenue.

Walker reportedly dug his fingernails into the officer's face but the cop struck back and managed to get him in custody.

Authorities also found a crack pipe in his pocket.

Walker faces a felony obstruction and cocaine charge.
