COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  A meeting on the proposed 2010 budget revealed that the city has allotted for 9 new emergency dispatcher positions.

Officials say the expansion of the police force and creation of ten new beats in the city with the local option sales tax, calls for additional 911 dispatchers.

The positions are budgeted to begin in July when the new police beats kick in.

Hiring will start after the budget is finalized by council in June.
