COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Columbus will be home to a new baseball team. The Columbus Baseball Foundation tells News Leader 9 this team will be apart of the Great South League.
Thursday, in the "WoodBats Room", the team announced the return of baseball to Golden Park -- revealing the team's logo, field management, and roster.
The Great South League is a college summer wood bat league. The players will be amateurs, who are currently enrolled in college and want to improve their skills during the summer vacation.
The players will even be evaluated by talent scouts.
The Columbus team will be managed by the Columbus Baseball Foundation, Inc.
Bo Callaway, chairman and CEO, and president, Jim White, announced the creation of a Great South League Baseball team back in February.
