COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Mother's Day is just around the corner and some parents around Columbus got creative with their gift ideas this year.

The Kiddie Shoppe hosted acclaimed silhouette artist, Clay Rice, who cuts a child's shadow in less than five minutes. All he needed was for the subject to sit still for a couple minutes, he got to cutting and an instant Mother's Day gift was created.

Rice told News Leader Nine, "My grandfather taught me to cut silhouettes when I was a little boy. It's been in my family for almost 80 years. My grandfather started in 1930."

Rice was also promoting his new book Saturday about a shadow looking for his boy.
