Ft. Benning soldier killed in combat

(WTVM) - The Department of Defense tells News Leader 9 a Fort Benning soldier died supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Twenty-one-year-old Cpl. Ryan C. McGhee of Fredericksburg, VA died May 13 from wounds suffered when his unit came into contact with enemy forces while conducting combat operations in Central Iraq.

He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, in Fort Benning.

    A second arrest has been made in connection with a deadly shooting that happened June 13 in West Point. Eric Bridges surrendered himself to the West Point Police Department Monday, June 18 at approximately 5:20 p.m.  He was being sought for the death of Reggie Pearson. Larry Dean Mallory, 58, was last seen Wednesday, June 13, leaving his residence on Mallory Drive in LaGrange. He was driving a Chevrolet truck with a Georgia tag.     The city of Columbus has just announced that the Government Center will close Monday due to a water leak that has flooded several offices inside the building.  All portions of the center were impacted by the leak.
