Former Teacher and Accused Child Molester Appears in Court

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) -  Elizabeth Gaddy, the former 7th grade teacher at Callaway Middle School in LaGrange was scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon.

Instead, her lawyer filed several motions in Superior Court asking that her indictment be thrown out.

The forty-five-year-old faces several child molestation charges stemming from an alleged incident in 2008 involving a 13-year-old male student that school district officials say was in her class the year before.

The indictment states Gaddy enticed the student to a dirt road beside the teen's home and performed oral sex on him.

However, Gaddy's lawyer says the indictment against her lacks specifics needed for her to make her defense like the definite date and location of the reported offense and the age of the victim.

Elizabeth Gaddy will have a non-jury hearing on June 5th when a judge will determine whether the indictment will be dismissed.

If convicted, she faces 25 years to life in prison on just one of the three charges against her.
