Columbus Lawyer Charged in Federal Indictment

COLUMBUS, GA (WXTX) - A federal grand jury in Macon, Georgia has returned a 40-count indictment against Columbus attorney, 46-year-old John Mark Shelnutt.

He was charged with money laundering, aiding and abetting a cocaine conspiracy, bribery, witness tamper and a host of other charges. 

At issue-- more than a $100,000 reportedly taken into the Shellnut and Day Firm by Shellnut during a 2006 Harris County drug case.

We're told the Federal Bureau of Investigation is currently at Mark Shellnut's offices.

    Columbus, GA (WTVM) - First responders are on the scene of a rollover crash on I-185 Southbound.  The Columbus Police Department confirmed there are multiple injuries. Traffic has reached a standstill, as emergency responders work to clear the road. First responders ask drivers to take a different route and avoid the area, if possible. News Leader 9 has crews en route to the scene of the crash; we will provide more details as they are made available.
