Armed Robber Gets Away with Cash and Car

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Police are investigating an armed robbery at a South Columbus store.

It happened Friday May 22nd around 5 PM at New Fashions on Fort Benning Road.

Investigators say a black male entered the store and pretended to be making a purchase.

When the clerk had the register open, the man pulled out a gun and forced the clerk to get down on the ground.

He took an undetermined amount of cash from the register and the clerk's car keys.

The robber then fled the scene in the clerk's car.

The vehicle was later found but police are still searching for the suspect.

He is described as a black male between the ages of 25 and 30, 5'8", 160 lbs., with a slim build and dark complexion.

No one was injured.
