Government Center entrance receiving renovation

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) -- If you're a regular visitor to the government center, get ready to change a habit -- the way you go inside.

The ground-floor public entrance near Ninth Street is closed as of Tuesday, for what the city describes as "temporary renovations."  The breezeway leading to that entrance from Second Avenue will be closed as well.

A statement from the city suggests you enter the Government Center by going up the stairs on Ninth Street to the Plaza Level.   Security personnel will be there, along with a "Customer Service Desk."

A special entrance for disabled people is available at the building's west wing.   Temporary parking places for them will be set up on First Avenue.
