2 Die in Memorial Day Crash

OPELIKA, AL (WXTX) - A man and a woman died in a head-on collision on Memorial Day.

Captain Elkins, of the Opelika Police Department tells News Leader 9,  57-year-old Brenda Kesler of Opelika and 47-year-old Jeffrey Hollingsworth of Blountsville, AL died from blunt force injuries when their vehicles collided on Highway 169 in Opelika at around 12:30 p.m. local time Monday. 

We're told an Oldsmobile Silhouette, driven by Kesler, was traveling south in the north-bound lane when it collided head-on with a Jeep Wrangler driven by Hollingsworth.

Kesler, driver of the Oldsmobile was pronounced dead on the scene.  Hollingsworth was taken to the East Alabama Medical Center, but died from his injuries around 2:00 p.m. Monday.

The accident still remains under investigation.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
